Argentina's biodiesel production reached 700 thousand tons, an increase of 44% in the first quarter, and exports account for u $ s 554 million, according to the Argentine government.
In the quarterly report published by the INDEC, the production of this biofuel climbed 44% in the first three months of the year. According to the statistical report, between January and March this year the volume of biodiesel reached 693,124 tonnes from 481,327 tonnes to have occurred a year ago.
The volume reached this year, the third in which the law took effect biofuels, represents a 92% increase in the volume produced in the first quarter of 2010.
Biodiesel exports also continued to rise, at least corresponding to the first three months of the year. According to the statistical agency the amount of exports between January and March was $ s 554 million, corresponding to a volume of shipments by 445,000 tonnes.
In terms of domestic consumption, the volume reached in the first quarter was around 200 thousand tonnes, some 40 000 tonnes higher than it had absorbed the local market a year earlier.
